AFIEROMENOS STO REMBETIKO

 

The production of “Afieromenos sto Rembetiko” (He is dedicated to Rembetiko) took place entirely in Athens between September and December 2016. Turkish musician Evrim Atesler, in close collaboration with Greek musicians Antonis Gerogiannis (percussions), Nikos Gyras (double bass), Nikos Mermigkas (oud, bouzouki, baglamas), Mihalis Bakalis (percussions), Dimitris Sintos (guitar), Aspasia Stratigou (voice) and Ibrahim Kurnaz (Violi) present for the first time to Turkish and international audiences, recorded interpretations of traditional Izmir and Rembetika songs, with an ambition to act as a bridge between their older and contemporary interpretations, just like himself, who, for years now, has been acting as a bridge between the Greek and Turkish musical culture. 

 

The talent of the exquisite musicians, the unique interpretations of Evrim Atesler accompanied by important Greek singer Aspasia Stratigou and the master sound engineering of Giannis Baxevanis make this album particularly valuable for those interested in this musical genre, also known in the rest of the world as “The Greek Blues”.

 

"Afieromenos sto Rembetiko” from January 2017 onwards has become available in Greece and Turkey, and in the rest of the world on all digital platforms.

 

GINEKIES FONES MAZI

Evrim Atesler’s new album entitled “MAZI” ( “TOGETHER”) includes duets with 7 renowned Greek female singers (Ria Ellinidou, Eirini Haridou, Ioulia Karapataki, Katerina Katsigianni, Sofia Papazoglou, Fotini Rentzi, Aspasia Stratigou), two solo songs and two instrumental pieces. An entirely Greek production, the album was released in December 2018 in Greece, Turkey and all international digital platforms.
